The Zambia Devolution Support Program (ZDSP) is a government-led initiative designed to strengthen local governance and service delivery by transferring authority, resources, and responsibilities from central to local levels.
It focuses on capacity-building for local councils, improving public financial management, enhancing accountability and transparency, and promoting sustainable development at district and provincial levels.
The program often involves technical assistance, funding for local development projects, and reforms aimed at decentralizing decision-making processes.
ZDSP projects generally fall into these categories:
• Transport Infrastructure: Bus stations, truck parks, parking bays.
• Urban Services: Solid waste management, sanitation equipment.
• Road Maintenance: Upgrading and maintaining local roads.
• Community Facilities: Town Centre stations and related amenities.
