MINISTER OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMMISSIONS 1,000-CAPACITY TRUCK PARK IN CHILILABOMBWE

Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Hon. Gift Sialubalo officially commissions the 1,000-capacity Reload Truck Park Bay in Chililabombwe District.

The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Gift Sialubala, today on 12th May 2026 commissioned the Reload Truck Park in Chililabombwe District, a facility with the capacity to accommodate up to 1,000 trucks.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Sialubala described the project as a significant milestone in enhancing transport and trade infrastructure in the district.

He noted that the truck park is a result of a Partnership model between Hibiscus Consulting Limited representing Reload Logistics and the Chililabombwe Municipal Council, aimed at providing an organised, secure, and hygienic environment for truck drivers, transporters, and surrounding communities.

The Minister stated that developments of this nature contribute to improved service delivery, enhanced local economic activity, and increased revenue collection for the local authority.

Hon. Sialubala further commended Chililabombwe Municipal Council for its initiative and urged other local authorities across the country to emulate the Council by forging strategic Partnerships that promote local development and economic growth.

Meanwhile, Chililabombwe District Commissioner Mr. Kelly Jibinga called on the Council to strictly enforce Government directives requiring all trucks to park in designated areas and comply with prescribed operational standards.

And Chililabombwe Mayor, His Worship Mr. Lucky Sichone, said the establishment of the truck park demonstrates the confidence the private sector has in Chililabombwe District as an emerging investment destination.

The Mayor added that such investments will contribute significantly towards transforming Chililabombwe into one of the country’s most modern border districts in the near future.

Speaking at the same event, Chililabombwe Municipal Council Town Clerk Mrs. Shilla Songolo said the local authority has undertaken several initiatives aligned with Government’s development agenda to strengthen the district’s economic contribution.

Mrs. Songolo highlighted initiatives such as the introduction of a digital revenue collection system at Kasumbalesa Border Post in collaboration with the Zambia Revenue Authority

(ZRA), the rebasing of ratepayers, the Council’s venture into entrepreneurship through the Youth Vocational Training Centre, and ongoing efforts to explore the development of a shopping mall through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

And Hibiscus Chief Operating Officer Mr. Suhayl Dudhia disclosed that the company had donated two motor vehicles to the Council to support enforcement operations.

Mr. Dudhia further revealed that, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes, the company had donated four wheelchairs and forty mattresses to vulnerable members of the community.

Delivering a vote of thanks on behalf of the beneficiaries, Ms. Mary Nambeye expressed gratitude to the Government and Reload Truck Park for the support rendered to the community and called for the continuation of such initiatives.

The event was attended by Directors from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, the Provincial Local Government Officer Mr Shaft Munsaka, Freeman of the City, DJOCs, and Heads of Government Departments, among others.
